Geneva, Switzerland — The Independent United Nations Watch (IUNW), a Geneva-based non-governmental organization dedicated to monitoring the United Nations and advancing global human rights, issues a strong condemnation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for its active and destructive role in the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

Since the outbreak of Sudan’s civil war in April 2023, the country has endured catastrophic violence characterized by genocide, ethnic cleansing, mass killings, and systematic violations of international humanitarian law.

IUNW highlights credible evidence indicating that the UAE has been a principal enabler of these crimes, providing the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) with advanced weaponry, financial assistance, and logistical support. This backing has empowered the RSF to commit grave atrocities, including attacks on civilians, widespread sexual violence, forced displacement, and the destruction of critical infrastructure. The reported supply of advanced Chinese-made guided bombs and heavy artillery by the UAE constitutes a clear breach of international arms embargoes.

Furthermore, the UAE’s involvement extends to orchestrating drone strikes on strategic urban centers, including Port Sudan, which have inflicted civilian casualties and deepened the humanitarian crisis. Such actions violate international humanitarian law and undermine diplomatic efforts to achieve peace and stability.

The Independent United Nations Watch calls on the United Nations, the International Criminal Court (ICC), and relevant international bodies to take decisive measures to hold the UAE accountable for its complicity in war crimes. IUNW urges the immediate enforcement of sanctions and the cessation of all military and financial support that fuels atrocities in Sudan.

IUNW stands in solidarity with the victims of Sudan’s ongoing conflict and reaffirms its commitment to promoting justice, accountability, and respect for international law. The organization calls for urgent, coordinated action by the international community to end external interference and restore peace to the Sudanese people.
